I recently sat down for an interview with Adriatica on her Tribal Future podcast. One of the stated main goals of the interview series is to ask the leading women dancers of the style that started as “Tribal Fusion” what words we use to talk about our own dances and our shared dance community.
I love Adriatica’s earnest curiosity. It’s wonderful to see how her open-hearted inquiry has welcomed many differing voices to the conversation about what we call our dance form.
Adriatica also asks questions like “what ancient practice would you like to see carried forward into the future?” and “What do you hope for the future of dance, art, and humanity in a world of AI?”
As not only a guest but a fan of her Tribal Future podcast I noticed some common themes among the answers given by the dancers she’s interviewed:
Breath
Dance
Drum
Matriarchy
Earth worship
Using your emotions as a navigation system
I feel inspired and grateful to be part of a dance community with these shared hopes for humanity.
